The Sun’s Working. Your Battery Should Be Too.

Solar Panels For Your Campervan

Why fit a solar panel on your campervan?

Picture this: you’ve driven out to your favourite remote spot, leisure battery freshly charged, fridge stocked with cold drinks and good food. By day two, you reach in for a cold one, only to find it’s warm. The lights wouldn’t come on earlier, either. Your leisure battery is flat, and the nearest hookup is miles away.

A solar panel means that never happens. While you sleep, hike, or sit around the fire, it’s quietly working, harvesting daylight and feeding energy back into your battery, completely for free.

What does a solar panel actually do?

Just like the panels you’ll have seen on rooftops, a campervan solar panel converts daylight into electricity. That electricity is fed into your leisure battery via a charge controller, keeping it topped up throughout the day.

The result? You can run your lights, charge your devices, power a USB socket, or keep a 12V fridge ticking along, all without needing a campsite hookup or running your engine. The more sunlight you get, the more you generate, though modern panels still produce a useful charge even on overcast days.

Can I have a solar panel if I have a pop-top roof?

Absolutely. A pop-top is no barrier at all. Rather than drilling through your roof, which risks water ingress and can compromise your pop-top mechanism, we bond the solar panel directly to the roof surface using a specialist adhesive. It’s a clean, watertight, and incredibly secure method.

In fact, this is our preferred fitting approach even on vans without pop-tops. There are no fixings to leak, no holes to seal, and the low-profile result looks far neater than bracket-mounted alternatives.
